Day 17(1/19/18) *Munich*
Day 17! Today was the definition of “relax”. I know that this whole interim trip is actually a big break from the St.Olaf campus and a super intense course load and my baseline stress level is so much lower as a result, but today was a great change of pace to even that! There was nothing academic, nothing crowded, just relaxing with family. I woke up at 11am to my surprise…I guess I needed the sleep:) and Florian (my cousin) had bought some fresh croissants from the bakery down the street-yum! He also gave me a few great suggestions of places to see in Munich—since both Jackie and Florian had work today, I did some solo exploring of a few parts of the city. I explored around a bit and looked at some beautiful sights such as the St.Ursula church, parliament building, several statues, gardens, courtyards, and churches…I remembered parts of it from when I visited a few years ago with my mom π, so it was nice to walk around and think about all of the great memories we made here. For instance, there’s a square called “the residence” and I remember that she and I got a “schneken” (which is german for baked treat) and sat on one of the benches there and people-watched and chatted…one of our favourite things to do in new cities:)
After exploring, I visited Jackie’s office at Pumpkin!(it’s a baby food company that is super organic and healthy) It was cute to see all of the product designs and an office devoted to little ones :) She and I then went to their place and all three of us had….Raclettes!π After a super laid back day I am feeling super relaxed and looking forward to the nice time tomorrow will bring-there’s nothing quite like being with family after being overseas away from most familiarities π
Goodnight!
