Day 16(1/18/18) *Copenhagen/Munich*

Botanical gardens :) |
I woke up in my cozy pod-bed at the hostel and checked my email and found out that because of the strong winds happening around the Copenhagen airport, our flight back to Geneva was cancelled! Uh-oh…this made me worried since I have a flight tomorrow to visit Jackie and Florian in Munich-and then I read the email further and found out that our group’s flight back to Geneva is scheduled for Saturday afternoon(so after my flight to Munich was supposed to leave 😬). Copenhagen is lovely, and I was happy to be able to stay here even longer, but I also was excited to see my dearest cousins:) So, I checked with Julie(who had been up almost all night trying to rearrange things for our group—I felt so bad for her 😕) who told me that it was probably ok if I tried to rearrange my flight plan to get to Munich. After skyping with my parents, (who are currently in Australia by the way on their study abroad trip….actually my parents, my brother, and I are all on different continents at the moment!), we were able to coordinate a trip to Munich leaving today! So, I had a few hours open before heading to the airport and catching my flight to see my family :) In those few hours, a group of us decided to go to the botanical gardens (also a suggestion of my roommate, Anna L!) and that was absolutely the best decision we could have made; it was such a grey, cloudy, drizzly, cold day outside and I was personally feeling a bit overwhelmed with the last-minute changes and being inside many warm greenhouses which smelled of rainforests was the perfect cure.
There were so many different types of plants, such as palm trees, lime trees, grapefruit trees, pomegranate trees, even asparagus and yuca plants…and they had live fish in a pond:) We spent quite a while there exploring the inside parts which had ladders you could climb to get a top-down view, and also on the trails outside…what a great way to end my time in Copenhagen!
So now I’ve arrived at my cousin’s place in Munich, and I’m so glad that it worked out for me to come in the end, and now I even get another whole day here! I’m excited to spending time with them :)
Goodnight!
-Anna
